Sewell’s association with world of comics dates back to the 1990s when he was Creative Director at Stateside Comics and then Great Eastern Conventions, Inc. Alongside David Lloyd (V for Vendetta) he was responsible for conceiving The Longest Comic Strip in the World (written by Alan ‘Watchmen’ Moore) in which 125 of Europe’s leading comic book artists and illustrators created a 250-foot comic strip in just 8 hours. Sewell also conceived and produced Graphic Nouvelle an Arts Council funded event celebrating the visual art of storytelling through the ages, oversaw the PR campaign for Duncan McAlpine’s Comic Book Price Guide for Great Britain and among the numerous comic book events he most notably staged the launch signing for DC Comics/Fleetway Judge Dredd vs. Batman graphic novel at the Virgin Megastore, Marble Arch, which was reportedly a bigger draw than when David Bowie had done a signing the month previously!
