Inspired at an early age by an inappropriate viewing of the movie Alien, Pete has been immersed in videographic design and effects ever since. He worked developing and testing the graphic capabilities of cutting-edge high definition videographics kit with Sony’s research and development department and with world leaders Rebo in New York, before establishing Ghost Design in London, designing and creating broadcast videographics and branding across the spectrum of TV, film and live music.
Among many others over a thirty-year career, he created the visual identities for Robot Wars, Techno Games and Masters of Combat for Mentorn, and has worked extensively with B7 Media on modern adaptations and relaunches of sci-fi properties Dan Dare, Blake’s 7, I Robot and the Martian Chronicles. Working with Audible, Radio 4 and the BBC he has created a steady stream of identities and promos for both existing and developing properties including Dirk Maggs’ Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and Neil Gaiman’s Norse Mythology. Indie film title sequence credits include Exit Thread, Iris Echo and Le Magique Noir and live music work includes concert visuals for Oasis, Rod Stewart and the Rolling Stones as well as several Russian and Chinese operas.
Recent projects include Top Gear and Dr Who for the BBC and promotional materials and branding for a collection of Radio 4 productions including NHS Frontline at the outset of the Covid outbreak.
He has served as site designer on an permaculture installation project in southern France and as design consultant to the Green Party, designing, editing and producing the 2017 Party Election Broadcast and a library of election materials. He is currently moonlighting as a playwright, plays the drums; can’t dance; always has a pen.
